Question:

I have a 2022 Ram 1500 crew cab with a 6'4" bed. I want to get a ladder rack and tonneau cover. Ill mostly be using the rack for kayaks and canoes. My concern is that with the canoe, the bow will touch the top of the cab if the height of the rack is not high enough. Is there a 27 high adarac that will fit my truck? I have been looking at the adarac racks. Can I get a 72 lond cross bar? Also, Im not sure what the difference is between all the adarac racks. Is it mostly style and looks? Im leaning towards a soft roll up tonneau cover. Any recommendations for a budget friendly one.

The best way to prevent contact between your canoe and the roof of your 2022 Ram 1500 is by using a rack with a cantilever over the roof. The Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43003XT-501EX includes a cantilever which adds 32" of length over your cab. The rear rack will easily slide along the tracks to sit just behind the front rack when not needed. This rack uses 69-1/2" crossbars which are 28-15/16" tall.

The Adarac Aluminum Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A35HG that you were looking at is a good option but depending on how much curve your kayak has it is difficult to determine if there will be an issue with the rack and your roof line. This rack does only have a 25" height and is the only size kit confirmed for your Ram. The crossbars are also only 66" wide. The main differences in the Adarac ladder racks is going to be the upright profile and the color or the rack. This rack uses their hybrid rails that have a small straight upright before angling in to match the roof line. This is best when using a roll up soft tonneau cover.
