do you know if the standard cable that comes with this unit is long enough to come thru the firewall of an 2013 extended cab silverado

I do not know for sure that the cable would be long enough as we have not tested it, but I can tell you that the cable is 19 feet 7 inches long. If you measure from the rear of your vehicle forward and its more than that to get near the cab of the truck then you will most likely need the Extension Cable for Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM3100504061.
This product will give you an additional 25 feet to work with which should be more than plenty
