Question:

Looking at adding this to a swing-away hitch that has a 275 capacity. With the bike rack, bikes, cargo carry, I am at 225 pounds. I have 50 pounds left for this adapter and cargo. How much cargo depends on the weight of this beast.

The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-10 weights 29 lbs. This is designed for flat towing so if you plan to carry a bike rack and cargo carrier at the same time your hitch capacity will be reduced by 50%. This will be the case for all adapters like the Roadmaster.

For an option that will not reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50% I recommend the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-305. This has the same weight of 29 lbs so it will not exceed your 275 lb capacity and will allow you to carry your bike rack and cargo carrier together. I would also highly recommend adding the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches # RM-061 to help reduce any unwanted movement.
