Question:
Hello, I have a jeep grand Cherokee and tow a tab400 tear . I want to add a hitch mounted bike rack and tow at the same time...these are ebikes and too heavy for the roof mount on the car. I think the roadmaster dual hitch 2/10 inch or rise would be perfect and allow me to do both bikes and trailer...but it says no trailer towing. My tongue weight on the camper is under 400lbs and total weight is 3800 loaded up. is that light enough if the bike rack fits behind with the camper?...The tab has no hitch in the back for a bike rack any ideas?....and why no towing a trailer is it because the extension is too long and I will loose some weight/ towing rating. Thanks

The reason you don't want to use the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 2" or 10" Drop/Rise # RM-077-10 for towing a trailer is because it was designed for flat towing a vehicle. This exerts force in different ways when compared to a trailer. However, there is a solution.
I recommend using the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 10" Drop/Rise - 10K
Item # 325-GH-305. This has a gross towing weight of 10,000 lbs and max tongue weight of 1,500 lbs which exceeds what your Jeep is capable of. It also gives you multiple options for height adjustment and will not reduce your tongue weight like other adapters. As long as you are not exceeding the tongue weight capacity of your Jeep Grand Cherokee, this will let you tow your trailer and carry your E-bikes without any issues.
I have attached a review video for your reference.
