Can the hatch be mounted vertically with the least dimensionwidth being vertical.?.

Yes you can absolutely mount the Multi-Purpose Access Door # SE76VR vertically. Since this is just an access door, the only thing affected by the orientation is how the door opens/closes.
As long as it can work for you, and the door is functional you'll be good to go.
