Question:

Hello, Im looking for a hitch for my 06 murano awd, the round tube hitch look pretty good but Im concerned if its just as strong as the square tube ones or if is there any structural differences. My trailer full loaded wil be around 3000 pounds so I need the strongest hitch for my car to have a peace of mind. Thank.

No matter how a hitch is constructed, round or square, they are all built for and tested for a certain capacity based on many factors. Two different hitches, one with a round tube and one with a square tube, that have the same capacity will be equally as strong. They have to be to reach the rating they are given.

With that said I am of the opinion that square is stronger in the long run. Any of the hitches we carry for the 2006 Nissan Murano are rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight (just consult the vehicle owners manual to make sure your Murano is also rated high enough).

The round tube hitches usually do look better on a vehicle so if you like Curt hitch # 13571 it is certainly a good option. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring use # C49KR.
