Is A Sliding Hitch Needed With A 2022 Keystone Cougar 368MBI 5th Wheel Trailer With MaxTurn Nose

Would I need a slider hitch for a 2022 Keystone RV Cougar 368MBI with Maxturn for my 2018 Ram 2500 crewcab 6 1/2 foot bed.

We always recommend a sliding hitch for a bed length less than 8' but you can do a little bit of measuring to see just how much turning clearance you have with your 2022 Keystone RV Cougar 368MBI with a MaxTurn nose and determine if a sliding hitch is needed.

You'll need to take a plumb bob and tape it to the corner edge (right or left, doesn't matter which one) of the nose of your trailer. From there you'll measure from the plumb bob over to the king pin of the pin box.

Once you have that measurement you can set your tape measure where the king pin would sit in the jaws of the hitch and put the tape out to the measurement you got before. If the tape measure touches the cab then we know that you don't have 90 degrees of turning clearance and would run the risk of the nose of the trailer coming into contact with the cab of the truck.

If you don't have 90 degrees of turning clearance then yes, you would need to use a sliding hitch like the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider # C16541.
