To install a fifth-wheel hitch in your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab Pickup with a 5 foot 7 inch bed you will need to use the Universal Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit with Rails, item # RP30035-386, along with a Sidewinder Fifth Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret (see link).
The Sidewinder is designed specifically for short bed pickups less than 6 feet long. This item will give you clearance to maneuver without contact between the trailer loft and the pickup cab. You will need to order the Sidewinder with a rotating turret specific to your fifth-wheel trailer pin box. We have information on the Sidewinder for you to review (see link), along with a formula you can use to be sure that there will be enough space between your cab and the trailer when executing 90-degree turns.
Along with the above mentioned items you will also need a standard fifth-wheel hitch like the 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch by Reese, item # RP30047. Be sure to select the fifth-wheel hitch and the Sidewinder to match your vehicles towing capacity and the trailer weight.
