Can this unit be used to replace my existing G6A-7 water heater? What, if any, challenges will I face re: opening size, plumbing orientation?

The Dometic RV Water Heater part # DMC74FR would fit really well in place of the Atwood G6A-7 that you mentioned having. This and what you have now are both 6 gallon water heaters of a very similar design to the fit would be very easy.
