Does the Redline Lock Assembly Require a Metal Backing Plate Or Brace

Question:
Just curious how or what are guys doing for the bolts that go in the door itself. Is there a metal cross bare to drill though? I guess Im asking what is solid in the door itself to attach clasp to? It is a typical 7x12 trailer with side RV style door.

The 36 inch Trailer Door Bar Lock Assembly # 305736 does not come with installation hardware or specific instructions on how it installs. The install will vary based on upon the trailer.
Most trailer doors are wood and would need to have holes drilled through them and then use nuts and bolts to attach the # 305736 to it. A backing plate for this assembly is not required or included, but if you used big enough washers to distribute the load you should not have a problem
