I know an a3 is not the perfect tow car, but the boat is not very heavy, probably around 50 pounds tongue weight. Will your kit work for this?

The Curt Hitch # C11192 that you referenced is confirmed to fit your 2006 Audi A3 and has towing capacities of 200 lbs tongue weight and 2,000 lbs total trailer weight so it should do well to tow your boat that only will put 50 lbs of tongue weight on the hitch. You should also consult your owners manual to determine the manufacturer towing capacities and be sure not to exceed the lower of the capacities.
