How to Determine Ground Clearance for the Curt Hitch # C11192 on a 2013 Audi A3
Updated 06/11/2014 | Published 06/10/2014 >
Question:
When hitch #C11192 is installed on a 2013 Audi A3, how high above the ground is the bottom of the hitch? I plan to use the hitch for a bike rack but I have concerns that it may be too low to the ground and the bike rack could drag over bumps. The A3 has a very short rear overhang which helps with this concern compared to other vehicles. Thank you.

The hitch opening of the Curt Hitch part # C11192 will sit directly underneath the lower fascia of your 2013 Audi A3 once installed. To determine how much ground clearance this hitch will have on your vehicle you will need to measure the distance from the bottom of the lower fascia on your vehicle to the ground and then subtract about 1-1/4 inches to get a very close approximation. Basically a bike rack would sit right underneath the fascia once installed.
Since this is a Class I hitch you will be limited to only carrying 2 bikes. A popular bike rack with other A3 owners is the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack part # TH92BJ.
