Blue Ox Baseplate And Complete Flat Towing Setup For A 2015 Ford Fiesta

Updated 06/13/2022 | Published 06/10/2022

Question:

Do any of the baseplates fasten more to the frame of the car than to the bumper frame? My bumper frame has a lot of rust, potentially affecting the integrity of it.

Every base plate that we offer, like the:

- Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2622 that you were checking out, attaches to the bumper frame of the vehicle.

However most likely what you have surface rust on your 2015 Ford Fiesta, and isn't anything to worry about, but to be completely sure you can either take ball-peen hammer and tap away some of the rust to see if it's thinned out, or, you can take it to your local mechanic shop and have them inspect it.

If you're interested in a complete setup, you're also going to need:

-A set of tow bars like # RM-677,

-A braking system like # HM39524,

&

-A set of wiring like # RM-154.

Additionally, you may need a high-low adapter like # C59KR to keep your tow bars in the "safe-zone" while flat towing.

I have attached a FAQ that goes into a bit more detail on how you can pick out the high-low adapter you need.
