Question:
Good Morning, We have found that our newer fleet of Ford F350s 2019 - with factory brake controllers do not work with the Hydrastar HBA-12 serial number 725598, with HBA-CAM 381-7073, even with factory brake controller set to electric over hydraulic brakes, engine running and depressing the pedal for 3 seconds to activate the 12 volt aux/charging signal. Please advise if there is a newer adaptor module required or similar fix? The hydrastar unit in question works flawlessly with various other trucks in our fleet including GMC/Chevy 2015/2016 and older Ford Trucks using Prodigy brake controllers. Thank you

Integrated OEM brake controllers tend to be very unreliable when trying to use them with electric over hydraulic actuators. The best solution is to replace the integrated controller with an aftermarket one that will work for sure like with the Prodigy P3 part # 90195. You'd need the install harness part # 22292 which plugs in under the dash of the truck. We've heard of people using brake magnets installed on the trailer wiring to get the integrated controller to work but that's essentially what the # HBA-CAM is so I do not foresee that working either.
