Bike Rack Recommendation to Carry 2 Bikes on a 2005 Subaru Forester Without a Trailer Hitch

There are a few things to consider when choosing a bike rack for your 2005 Subaru Forester. The first thing we will want to look at is your rear hatch. Some of the 2005 Foresters came with a plastic rear spoiler at the top of the rear hatch. This spoiler was not designed to support any additional weight, so you have two options.

The first option is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Rack, # HRF2. This is the only trunk mount bike rack that is compatible with SUVs and hatchback style vehicles with plastic spoilers. The other option is a roof mount bike rack. A roof mount bike rack would be your best option because the bike rack and the bike will not have any contact with the body of your vehicle decreasing the possibility of damage to your vehicle.

To use a roof mount bike rack, you will need a roof rack with crossbars. We carry many roof mount bike racks that fit the OEM roof rack of the Forester such as the Swagman Upright Roof Bike Carrier, # S64720.
