Question:
Hi, is there such a thing as a 2” ball coupler that will fit my 2” wide channel using the same mounting holes as my original 1-7/8” ball size coupler? I’d love the convenience of using the same ball size, but it seems a 2” ball size coupler has bigger bolt holes further apart. I’m just towing a Sunfish on a jet ski trailer, and would like the added universal convenience. Thanks!

Your standard coupler for a 1-7/8" hitch ball, like the etrailer # CT-2001-Z, has bolt holes measuring 2-1/4" apart on center while your standard coupler for a 2" hitch ball, like the etrailer # CT-3001-Z, has bolt holes measuring 3" apart on center for your standard coupler. There isn't any issue with using a 2" coupler for your application (you just have to drill new holes) so I say go ahead and upgrade it to the more standard hitch ball size.
We do have some couplers that have some adjustability and will fit both a 1-7/8" and a 2" hitch ball but they fall under the brake actuator category, like part # T43397007K, so they would be heavier than what you have now and you would have to weld in some shims to take up space to fit your 2" wide trailer tongue.
