To use a rooftop tent on your 2021 Subaru Outback, you will need to add a roof rack, which will allow you to choose from a couple of different tent options. First let's start with the rack you'll need, which is from Yakima and consists of the following parts:

- Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Silver # Y00428 or Black # Y00425

- SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y53TR

- Landing Pad 27 for Yakima SkyLine and Control Towers # Y46VR

This is going to give your '21 Outback a very quiet, strong, easy to use roof rack so you can mount a rooftop tent. The only thing I recommend adding are locks to keep the rack safe and secure on your Subaru; you can add those with the Lock Cores # Y07204.

With this rack, there is a rooftop tent that you can choose from, and I did verify for you with Thule that it is compatible with the rack and your Subaru:
