I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 for your 1984 Chevrolet K30 pickup. The P3 is a proportional brake controller that will adjust the brake force sent to the trailer for light and heavy braking. It can work on trailers with up to 4 braking axles and works with electric or electric over hydraulic brakes. Best of all it has a diagnostic feature that helps you to determine if you have any issues with the braking system on your trailer.
