The Tekonsha wiring harness we list for the 2012 Volkswagen Passat is actually # C59496. But you could use # 119250KIT if you wanted. It installs without cutting into your wires.

You will need to test the tail light wires to confirm the following:

On the vehicle, the black wire with a white tracer should be left turn signal, brake, and tail light and will connect to the harness yellow wire. Black with red tracer should be right turn signal, brake, and tail light and will connect to the harness green wire.

Red and brown on the wiring harness would not be used. White will ground to the vehicle frame. Black goes to the vehicle battery.

I have included a link to a video that might help. The key is to test the wires on your vehicle to make sure you know the functions. Even though we have a good idea of what the wire colors will be, Volkswagen could have changed it at any time since there is no industry standard.
