Since I do not know what exact retractable tonneau cover you have on your 2014 Ram 2500 with an 8-foot bed, there is something we need to consider about your cover. In order to be able to use a ladder rack, your tonneau cover must leave your truck's stake pockets completely open. This is because any ladder rack we carry uses those take pockets in order to install.

If you have open stake pockets with your cover installed, an amazing option is the Thule TracRac SR # TH43003XT-000. Not only does this beast have a 1,200 pound maximum weight capacity, it is completely adjustable anywhere along the base rails. The uprights are also easily removable when the rack is not in use so you do not have to always transport the rack. Also, since you have a retractable cover, you do not need to worry about the inward angle of the uprights.

For a more economical option, I suggest the Adarac Pro Series # A69FR. One of the benefits of this rack is that since the crossbars only measure 1-1/2" wide x 1-1/2" tall, they are compatible with many clamp-on accessories such as cargo baskets and kayak carriers.
