Troubleshooting Cap Not Fitting Over Bolt After Hitch Installation on 2020 Ram 1500 Classic

Question:

I bought this hitch receiver and did everything directions said and the cap that goes over the bolt wont fit back on, bolt still sticks up to high. Is there a different kind of cap I can buy for it?

The cap should fit back on after installing the # e98852 on your 2020 Ram 1500 Classic. Not only should it fit, it should fit fairly easily. This is rare but it has happened to a few people. What I recommend, and what worked for them, is loosening the bolts and adjusting the order you torque them down. This may allow the hitch to seat differently which will let you get the cap back on.

The other thing you can try is working that top bolt in and out to see if you can get it to seat further down. I would also inspect the hitch just to be sure nothing is interfering with it seating all the way.

I have attached some installation videos for your reference. As you can see in the video, it takes very little effort to reinstall the cap and it sits flush without any issues.
