Question:

I have a 2017 double cab Toyota Tacoma with the 72inch long bed. I had the ARE CX Evolve topper installed last summer with tracks. Now I am looking for the compatible Yakima rack system. I want the maximum width I can get out of the crossbars without overhang to bump your head on. Thanks for help you can offer on recommended towers and other accessories. Dont need fancy upgrades, just a sensible system for carrying stand-up paddle boards. Later I made add an accessory for sea kayaks. Thanks for recommendations!

For a Yakima rack that fits the A.R.E. CX Evolve camper shell on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma I recommend the following:

-4 Yakima Control Towers # Y8890027

-2 sets of the Yakima Landing Pad 1 # Y00221

You also need 1 set of Yakima Crossbars. You will need to choose the correct size in order to ensure there is no overhang. The following crossbars are available:

-58" bars # Y00409

-66" bars # Y00410

-78" bars # Y00411

If you need a paddleboard carrier to go with the rack you can use the Yakima SUPDawg Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - 2 Boards # Y04075. This carrier can hold 2 SUPs.

Another option would be the Yakima ShowDown Kayak or SUP Carrier and Lift Assist w/ Tie-Downs - Side Loading - Clamp On # Y04081. This would allow you to carry 2 SUPs or 1 kayak since you mentioned you may carry a kayak in the future. This would, however, require the crossbars to extend at least 3.5" beyond the towers. Both the carriers and the rack are compatible with the Yakima Same Key System # Y07202.
