How Many Turns Are Required For the Springs On The Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M374FR?

Question:
my door opening is 80 inches top to floor. How many turns do you recommend i start with. I get 4 = 1. Should I do this with the door open or closed. Thanks

The instructions for the Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M374FR state to wind the spring 38 quarter turns or 9-1/2 full turns. At this point you will want to test the door operation and make 1/4 turn adjustments adding tension or removing tension to balance the door.
The door should be open when winding the springs.
