Question:

I watched a few youtube install videos about installing one of your hitches on a 2018 VW Tiguan SE...they all show a fram rail to rail type hitch..but wen I look on your site with that same info it brings up something completely Different...its like a 10 x 10 ? much smaller unit that looks like it attaches just in the center of the cars unibody framing? So what the deal. Is this smaller unit enough strength? Are there pre drilled holes to attach the 4 bolts through. Im confused help me with this...If both work what is the recommended unit

So the smaller hitches that you are referring to are fits for the Tiguan Limited models as opposed to the standard Tiguan like yours. The hitch that fits your 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is the larger unit that installs to the frame rails:

To install the # C13381 on your '18 Tiguan you'll simply bolt it directly to the frame rails. Note that some models of Tiguan have existing hardware at the bolt hole locations which you can use to install the hitch; but if that hardware is not there, you can simply use the hardware that comes with the hitch and the process is exactly the same.

I also wanted to mention, in case you were going to be towing with your Tiguan and needed a wiring harness, the correct fit is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56403.
