Question:

I would like to upgrade my Grand Design Imagine equalizer to the Road Armor. My current equalizer measures 7 3/4 inches from hole to hole, and 2 7/8 inches from center of holes to center top mounting hole. Currently have 2 1/4 inch shackles. Plan to upgrade bushings and use wet bolts. I want to use the Road Armor, but would need to go with 3 1/8 inch shackles to keep the axle distances the same. What is the recommendation for this particular trailer? I have gotten a few different answers from LCI and Etrailer when I called to talk to someone. Grand Design owners forum is recommending Road Armor LC696740 with wet bolt shakle kit LC52SV. Will need bushings too. My response on the Grand Design owners page suggested Etrailer recommended the road armor with and shackles above. Want to verify before I order parts. Seems like I could create more issues with the wrong parts. Thanks

The Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit part # LC696740 will work great on a Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer if switch to longer shackle straps, the Lippert AP Kit part # LC52SV which also has heavy duty shackle straps and wet bolts.

In general, you want to use the same size equalizers for replacement but in some cases you can make up the difference with the shackle strap which will prevent any issues with the shackle flipping.
