When installing the new steps on our 5th wheel does the scree protecter have to be removed when the new steps are pushed into the trailer?

No, you do not need to remove the screen protector on your door after you install the SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps for 25" to 28-7/8" RV Door Frames - Triple - Aluminum # LC791572.
You can see in the video I have linked in the first ten seconds he opens the door and none of the screen door hits or needs to be removed for normal operation.
