Question:

I have a 2011 f150 with no trailer hitch. I want to put a hitch on it and a 7 pin connection to haul my dual axle trailer. Is there a spot in the harness that can be used? I know I need 2 get a control unit. Would there be a spot to plug that in under the dash?

For your 2011 Ford F-150, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13371, as this hitch will offer the most capacity at 600-lbs tongue weight, and an 6,000-lbs maximum GTW.

However, you'll want to reference your vehicle's owner's manual for your maximum towing capacity and compare that rating to your vehicle, and utilize the lower rating between the two.

For wiring, if you do not have a factory 4-flat at the rear of your vehicle you can add one with # C58044. Since you mentioned you wanted to also add a 7-way, I suggest using the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57672, which will plug into the 4-flat trailer connector.

It sounds like you're also looking for a brake controller. A great option is the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160. This brake controller has a easy to read LED screen, has a built in slide bar for manual override, and also has a quick disconnect feature that allows you to easily remove and store the controller when not in use.

If you have the factory 4-flat, you can use the plug-in adapter # 22292 to plug into the junction box under the dash of your 2011 Ford-F-150, otherwise you'll have to hardwire the unit into your factory wiring.
