When it comes to wiring, colors are not universal and don't always match up. Since you are describing six wires it sounds like you have a 6-way connection. In which case the typical colors are:
Green: Right turn/brake light
Yellow: Left turn/brake light
Brown: Tail/running lights
White: Ground wire
Blue: Brake controller output
Red or Black: Battery hot lead
This doesn't exactly fit with either set of wires you are describing. I recommend using a circuit tester like the # PTW80157 to find which wire is tied to which function on your vehicle connection. On the trailer side you would need to trace the wires if you are not sure which is which to ensure they match up correctly.
I have attached some helpful articles on 6-way and 7-way wiring showing the common colors tied to different functions for each for your reference.
