The best option to charge your trailer's battery with your tow vehicle is to use a DC to DC charger like the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D. The BCDC chargers will draw power from your tow vehicle's battery, which would be charged with your alternator, to maintain/charge your trailer's auxiliary battery.
These chargers also have a secondary input for a solar option that would allow you to charge your battery using solar power, which would also work even if the tow vehicle was not running.
These chargers have a multi-stage charging algorithm that ensures a complete charge on your auxiliary battery without having to worry about overcharging. They are compatible with AGM, gel, standard lead acid, calcium, and Lithium ion (LiFePO4) batteries.
There are multiple amperage ratings for these chargers to fit your application so I've attached our page of Redarc BCDC chargers as well as our page of Redarc fuse kits so you can get the corresponding fuse for the charger you choose.
I've included a review video and installation video below to give you a better idea of how these chargers work, so I really recommend checking them out.
As for the Progressive Dynamics PD4100 series power centers, the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger - 35 Amp # PD4135K is a great choice. This 2-in-1 AC/DC distribution panel and converter charger will keep your power systems easily accessible inside the RV while also charging your trailer's battery when hooked up to shore power. It is compatible with lithium-ion, flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries.
The Charge Wizard monitors your RV's batteries (non-lithium) and automatically begins charging when needed. There is also a switch for lithium mode to keep your lithium batteries fully charged. In lithium mode, the unit uses a higher output voltage, which provides a fast, complete charge. It also extends battery life since it utilizes the appropriate charging profile.
I've attached some videos of this power center as well that will go over some features and walk you through the installation as well. If you have any more questions please feel free to reply back.
