How Difficult Is It To Install A Hitch On A 2022 Hyundai Kona?
Published 12/01/2021 >
Question:
Hi. I just got a new 2022 Hyundai Kona, not the electric one, and need a hitch to carry my bike rack. My previous Hyundai had a 1.25" hitch so that's what my rack has as well. So I need a 1.25" hitch on the Kona. I am looking to do this myself as the dealer quoted WAY too much to install it. How difficult is it to install the Curt C11529 on my new car? And will there be any drilling or trimming needed? Thanks.

I will start by confirming that the Curt # C11529 is a fit for your 2022 Hyundai Kona and it will indeed have a 1-1/4" receiver opening so there will be no issue getting your bike rack installed in it. I can also say that we have not needed to do any drilling or trimming to get this hitch installed and I included an install video we did on a 2020 Kona for you to check out. You will need to lower the exhaust, which is not difficult, and there is a small panel that needs to be removed while doing the install, but it gets reattached once the install is completed.
I highly recommend doing this yourself as it is one of the easier installs among hitches. The install video will also help guide you along the way.
