Why is there 6 wires in plug on a 5 pin plug

There are 6 wires on the 25 Ft 5-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A25W5B that you referenced because this has a wishboned running light circuit which means it has a wire to run to either side of the trailer's running light circuit. So it still has the 5 standard circuit of a 5-way but just has two wires you can use for the running light circuit.
