Hi. Is there any risk with wrapping the warmer around itself if its a bit longer than the battery?

No, you will be fine if the Kat's Heaters Thermal Battery Wrap for Series 24, 24F, 27, 27F, 74 Batteries - 125V - 80 Watt # KH22200 overlaps a bit. It's not going to get hot enough to do any damage to the wrap.
