Expert Reply:
The Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Rails and Universal Installation Kit - Slide Bar Jaw - 16K # C16116 utilizes a universal base rail and bracket kit so it will fit your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 but will require some drilling to attach to the frame. The Curt E16 is a very basic model that uses a slide-bar jaw which will result in a lot of movement/rattling of the king pin and the non cushioned head can give you chucking and bounce. If you're not going to be hauling a 5th wheel often then this hitch is more than capable of handling your needs.
If you do plan on hauling your 5th wheel often then I recommend upgrading to the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000lbs # BWRVK3200 and the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2500. The custom rail kit requires no drilling into the frame to install which drastically reduce installation time. This hitch uses a dual jaw for more king pin contact to reduce movement and rattling. The fully articulating head eases hookup and helps to limit chucking with front-to-back and side-to-side pivoting. B&W is known for quality and manufacturers all of their hitches right here in the US.
I've attached some review videos to offer you some additional information as well.
