I would say the 7 blade connector is better and that answer is based on availability and common use. The 7-Way blade style trailer connector is the most common 7-Way in use at this time. If you are making a choice today I would recommend going with a 7 blade like the Hopkins Endurance item # HM48470. However, if you already have a 7-Way round connector you can just use an adapter like the Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter 7-Way item # HM47425 when needed.
