Troubleshooting Unlocking the TorkLift Fortress GasLock Kit for Propane Tanks

Question:

Hello - I put the gas lock together on my propane tank support in my travel trailer. After snapping it together, I am unable to turn the key in order to unlock it and separate the barrels. My wife tried as well, so its not just me. I certainly dont want to break the key off in the lock is there an alternative other than calling a locksmith? Thanks very much for your help!

I contacted Tech support at TorkLift for your issue with the Fortress GasLock Kit, # TLA7770. They stated that while they have in the past had a few that fit tightly at first, they have not had any feedback of them not opening or the keys breaking off. You may just need to put a little more force to it. I asked about suggestions to loosen this up, lubricate the tumblers in the barrel. They responded with suggestion of white lithium grease or graphite. But do not use WD40 or something similar as it will attract and hold dust and dirt causing greater issues in the future than help.
