How to Position Yakima GrandTour Cargo Box on Roof

Question:

How much cargo box overhang in the the front is too much? I have a mazda cx30 paired with a grandtour 18. On Yakimas website, it says they are compatible, but I would love your opinion. Thanks!

There honestly isn't too much of a guide on this. The general rule of thumb is to try to get the Yakima GrandTour 18 # YA84FR centered on your crossbars, but this basically goes for any roof cargo box on the market. You can make slight adjustments back and forth to help it better fit your vehicle but I would probably avoid moving the mounting points to the rearmost position just from a stability standpoint.

This box fits a crossbars spread of 24" - 38" which is the distance from the front of one crossbar to the front of the other. Aside from that just try your best to load all of the weight evenly and you will be just fine.

I have attached a sample photo from Yakima that demonstrates the cargo box installed as well as a clip from the instructions for you to reference.
