I have a 2022 Toyota Highlander, it doesn't have any wiring yet. I am wanting to get a 7-way and brake controller. What all do I need to do this?

The first thing you will need to do to get a 7-way and brake controller installed on your 2022 Toyota Highlander is to get a 4-way connector. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat # TK99FR will be plug directly into existing wiring located behind the trim panel near the driver's side rear seat belt bracket. You will have to pull back the side trim panel to access this harness. You will then want to use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7 to get the 7-way connector.
Next, you will need to decide what brake controller you are wanting to use. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. This brake controller includes a customizable LCD display, storable settings, 3 boost levels, battery protection and continuous diagnostics. It is also transferable between vehicles. The brake controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action and automatically adjusts the trailer's braking based on deceleration of the tow vehicle. You will also need the Pigtail Wiring Harness with Diode for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controllers # 7865 which is going to hardwire into your vehicle and then plug into the brake controller. The pigtail has a diode that prevents feedback when using the manual override.

Scott S.....Scott M here. 2022 Highlander XLE...non hybrid. I am using the Prodigy P3 brake controller #90195. Have all the other pieces for the trailer hookup (with trailer wiring by factory). Trying to figure out how to splice into the brake switch wiring to connect to the P3. In the above reply, you state I need the Pigtail Wiring harnesss with Diode for the Tekonsha. What is it and how do I get one? What color wire do I tap into for the brake signal for the P3. Thanks for the help. Scott M
