Can the Replacement Hardware Bag # Y8840018 Be Used to Fit my 2D Load Warrior to Reese Square Bars?

Question:

I purchased a new old stock load warrior bike rack to take my kids bike back and forth to college. i also bought after market Reese square cross bars for my SUV. the original trip was before i received the actual bike rack, so we had to winch it, laying down, to my roof. once i received the rack in, i noticed the mounting hardware was not big enough and is more for round bars. will this part be big enough to fit a 1inch square bar or do you have an adapter for Yakima that will work with a 1inch aftermarket generic crossbar?

I have an answer for you. Unfortunately, the Replacement Hardware Bag for Yakima Mako Saddles, LandShark Saddles, HullRaiser or Kayak Stacker # Y8840018 will not work with your older Yakima 2D Load Warrior Bike Rack. In addition, I confirmed with my tech at Yakima that the 2D Load Warrior was not made specifically for aftermarket crossbars of any kind. With that being said, Yakima confirmed that they do not make anything specifically designed to work with the 2D Load Warrior and your Reese 1.25 x 1.25 inch square crossbars.

With that being said, we do currently carry other brand bike racks that are designed to fit square crossbars. For your best bet, I recommend the Swagman Race Ready Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount # S64705. The Race Ready has the same wheel-mount attachment style as the 2D Load Warrior. It can also hold bikes up to a maximum of 45 pounds. However, with that being said, even though you will have enough room on the clamps to mount onto square bars that are 1.25 x 1.25 inches, we have not tested the Race Ready on Reese square bars.
