What To Do When The Firestone Ride-Rite Springs Are Put Onto A Vehicle Frame Lift For Service?
Published 09/09/2021 >
Question:
What happens to the installed air bag when the truck is put on a lift and the suspension is allowed to fully extend? Will the air bags extend out and lengthen in size or will they rip and be damaged in any manner.

If it is necessary to lift your 2012 Ford F-150 by the frame, first release the air pressure from the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2542. This will allow the air springs to extend to their maximum length without being damaged. The uninflated air springs are capable of supporting the weight of the axle when the vehicle is lifted by the frame.
If the vehicle is to remain on the lift for an extended period of time I recommend using some jacks to support some of the weight from the rear axle as to not cause damage to the air bags.
After servicing of the vehicle is complete, lower the vehicle to the ground and reinflate the air helper springs to the desired pressure.
