Question:
I have an Aluma 5 x 8 x 4.5 enclosed aluminum cargo trailer. Tare weight 700 lbs. GTWR is 2,900 lbs. 3,500 lb. rated torsion axle. Loaded, the trailer is evenly loaded side to side and the cargo weight is 772 lbs. Thus total trailer weight 1,472 lbs. Tires are Westlake ST205/75R14 LR C on aluminum wheels. Each tire carries 736 lbs. What cold inflation pressure should I use? Load and inflation charts are all well above the actual GTW, starting at about 850 lbs. and 25 psi.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Your Westlake Castle Rock ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # LHCK201 should be inflated to their max 50 cold psi. With trailer tires, you always want to inflate them to the maximum cold psi to give you the best performance. The only tire with an inflation chart is the Goodyear Endurance model, but with all other trailer tires the manufacturers recommend inflating to the max psi.
