Installing Truck Bed Roof Rack On 2002 Chevy S-10 For Transporting A Kayak

Question:

I’m looking to mount a single roof bar on my 2002 regular cab Chevy S-10. A 2nd bar is already installed on a home built assembly at the end of the bed by the tailgate. Do you have anything that will work? I want to carry a kayak that will weigh less than 50 pounds.

It sounds like you are wanting to install a single crossbar on the bed of your 2002 Chevy S-10 to go with your already installed crossbar. There are not any single crossbars that you can add so you would need to install a complete truck bed rack such as Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Load Stops - Steel - 800 lbs # EM07706. Or you could go with a more affordable setup like Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Side Mount - Steel - 250 lbs # EM07708. This mounts on one side of the truck bed and offers a platform that adjusts from 19" - 34". I recommend going with this route if you are just looking to haul one kayak and have cost in mind.

If you happened to be looking into a rack for your roof, there is actually not a custom-fit setup for your vehicle. The only way to do this would be to drill into the roof.
