Question:

Will the GearDeck 17 box fit on my 2010 Prius . If its mounted to the 2 inch hitch how much clearance will I have. Concerned about dragging the box go up or down inclines. Where could I have it installed the hitch and the box. Thanks for your help

We do have some cargo carrier options for your 2010 Toyota Prius, however, the GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # H006049, will not fit on your Prius. As you mentioned, this cargo carrier requires a trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver. The trailer hitches available for your Prius only have a 1-1/4 inch receiver. I have attached a link to all of the trailer hitches that will fit your Prius for you to check out and compare.

The trailer hitch that I would recommend for you is the Draw-Tite Sport Frame Hitch, # 24847. Once this hitch is installed on your vehicle, you will have about 9 inches of ground clearance to the bottom of the hitch. I have attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2010 Pruis for you to check out as well. You will notice that the hitch in the video is the Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, but the installation for the Draw-Tite hitch will be the same because the trailer hitches are identical.

The cargo carrier that I would recommend for your Prius is the Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18110. This cargo carrier will work with any of the trailer hitches that fit your vehicle and the shank has a 3 inch rise to provide additional ground clearance. I have attached a photo of this cargo carrier mounted on a Toyota Prius to give you an idea of what this will look like.

If you were looking at the enclosed carrier to protect your cargo from the elements, you could add a cargo bag like the etrailer Cargo Bag, # e98990.
