How Is 2-Gauge Wire Secured To Buyers Products 2-Pole Connector # 337TC2012?

Question:
So the 2 gauge wire is just pushed into the plug. I would believe that you need to hold the wires in place rather than just by friction. I am trying to solder this and it is not working, the plastic portion of the plug is melting.

After inserting the 2 gauge wire into the Buyers Products 2-Pole Connector # 337TC2012 you will remove the plastic front cap and push the wires into their respective place based on which wire is positive and negative. Reinstall the plastic front cap and then on the bottom tighten the set screw shown in the included picture, which will keep the wire from being able to move.
You cannot solder the wire to this connector, and since you have melted the front cap you will need to replace the connector with the # 337TC2012.
I included a video of the # 337TC2012 for you to take a look at.
