Can Shorter Screws be Used For Advent AC ACM135C if Roof is Not 2-1/2 Inches Thick

Question:
I am considering the Advent AC 13,500 BTU as a replacement for my Carrier Model No. 68RV14103A Low Profile. I see the roof thickness must be 2.5 inch to 5 inch or you would need a spacer. Can you just replace the 4 screws for shorter ones if the roof is less than 2.5?

You shouldn't just use shorter screws if your roof is not 2-1/2 inches thick when installing the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor - 13,500 Btu # ACM135C.
The issue isn't just the hardware, it's the fit of the entire unit, including the distribution box, as well as ensuring the overall strength of where the unit attaches to the roof. If yours isn't 2-1/2 inches thick you'll need to build up the base with supports.
