Max Diameter Tube For A Rhino-Rack Fishing Rod Carrier

Question:
What is the max diameter of something that can be clampedin the actual holder? Would a 1 1/2” abs pipe fit and still be able to be clamped and locked in? Possibly looking to clamp a home made rod holder through these for quick removal and Install.

I spoke with the manufacturer, Rhino-Rack, and they stated that the rubber on the Rhino-Rack Fishing Rod Carrier - Locking - 5 Fishing Rods Item # RR573F will squeeze down to fit a max of 1" diameter tube.
