Please let me know what I will need besides the crossbar for my bare roof. There are several recommended products but I'm not sure what I need exactly. I'm also interested in the J-style kayak carrier.

Actually, the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack that uses the # TH711420 crossbars you'd looked at would be my first choice due to the high quality and availability of replacement parts offered for Thule products. You could assemble a roof rack using the following parts:
• Thule 53 inch WingBar Evo crossbars in black as part # TH711420 or silver/black as part # TH711400
• Thule Evo Clamp Feet, part # TH710501
• Vehicle Specific Fit Kit, part # TH145079
To carry your kayak, I'd recommend the etrailer brand folding J-style kayak carrier, part # e98878. This carrier will fold flat for easier overhead clearance, and the carrier includes straps to secure the kayak to the carrier, bow and stern tie downs and anchor straps that can be closed in the hood and rear hatch to provide a good mounting point for the bow/stern tie downs.
