Can Power Switch Be Added to Brake Controller

Question:
I have Prodigy II brake controller installed on a 2019 Sprinter RV using your Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter and everything seems to be working. I see by one of your answers that there is always a small voltage draw from the brake controller and Im concerned as my RV goes unattended for long periods 2-3 weeks. Do you recommend installing a small power switch on the black power wire to eliminate the power going to the brake controller or is there a manufacturer reason not to do that?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Because of the danger that the user could forget to turn it back on before towing, brake controllers are installed to a constant 12V feed. After 15-20 minutes or so of inactivity, the controllers goes into a sleep mode during which time the controller only draws enough power to keep one LED dot lit, which is a miniscule amount. You'd need to leave the vehicle unattended for 2-3 months or more before you'd need to worry about discharging your battery.
Because of that, I wouldn't recommend installing a switch.
