what keeps this from fitting 2002 mini cooper base? I know the Curt 11126 is meant for the 2002 but it is hard to come by and more money. I am getting mixed messages for whether Curt 11160 will fit a 2002. I dont care if I have to cut bumpers.

The correct trailer hitch for a 2002 Mini Cooper is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11126 which is the only available option for this vehicle. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11160 which is for latter models would sit down too low and would not align with the factory hole. It's not a confirmed it.
