Is Trimming Involved When Installing the SH77R on a 2021 Volvo XC40?
Updated 06/29/2021 | Published 06/28/2021 >
Question:
Hi, I recently purchased the SH77R Stealth hitch assembly to put on my 20210 Volvo XC40. When I took it to have it installed, the shop told me they would need to remove the assembly for the hands free tailgate thus voiding the the warranty and trim the bumper facing. None of this seemed to be indicated in the product description or in any other comments from purchasers. Any suggestions as I obviously don’t want to mess around with my brand new vehicle. THanks!

Installing the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH77FR on a 2021 Volvo XC40 does indeed require trimming for the install, which is listed after entering your vehicle information. The hands-free trunk release cable holder is not removed, but is relocated. I included a few pictures from the instructions showing what would need to be done.
With all this being said, none of this should void the warranty. Adding a hitch to a vehicle is extremely common and trimming or relocating things is very typical.
