Troubleshooting A Pilot Light That Won't Stay Lit On An Atwood G6A-7 Water Heater

Updated 06/21/2021 | Published 06/18/2021

Question:

I replaced my thermostat/regulator with a #91602 and replaced the thermocoupler and igniter at the same time due to the pilot lit not staying lit. With everything replaced the pilot will stay lit warming up the water and then after awhile it will go out and I will have too relight the pilot light. What am I missing?

If you're having issues with your Atwood water heater and have already replaced the thermocouple, igniter, and regulator # 91602 then you most likely have a gas pressure issue. Your water heater will require 10" WC to properly operate. You're most likely not receiving enough pressure and that's causing the pilot to go out. If you have anything else running off of propane it could be kicking on and also cutting your pressure down.

You'll want to have a certified technician come out a test the pressure. If that is not the problem then please reply back and we can further troubleshoot your issue.
